PLANSPONSOR Magazine – The Optimized Retirement Plan

What is the next phase of plan-design changes that a plan sponsor should think about implementing? Conducting a plan-design optimization study can help you answer that question.

An optimization study is “a process that determines the best plan design for an employer to [use to] maximize employees’ chance at an adequate retirement, while staying within the employer’s budget constraints,” says Brady Dall, a senior vice president at 401k Advisors Intermountain (401kAIM), in Sandy, Utah. 401kAIM has been doing optimization studies for about five years, Dall says. “[The practice] is picking up some speed in the industry.”
