Presentation Mid-Sized Retirement & Healthcare Conference
The Atlanta Mid-Sized Retirement & Healthcare Plan Management Conference, held April 28-May 1 at The Westin Buckhead, explored the changing landscape of employer-sponsored benefits. Kicking off the program was keynote speaker James Klein of the American Benefits Council. His presentation, Employee Benefits, Tax Reform and Deficit Reduction: The Intersection of Policy and Politics, provided the HR, benefits and finance professionals who attended with an insider’s perspective on how the federal budget deficit, tax reform and the Affordable Care Act may impact the future of employer- sponsored benefits. Luncheon speaker Richard Allison of SWBC Investment Advisory Services offered insights into how retirement plan sponsors can strengthen their fiduciary position, especially in light of fee disclosure regulations, with his presentation titled Who’s on First? The conference’s 45 workshops covered a wide range of timely issues, such as the “play versus pay” provisions (otherwise known as the employer mandate) under ACA, cost containment, retirement readiness, employee engagement, fiduciary responsibility under ERISA and more.
